Our Values

Our Values Make Us Who We Are

If you are looking for a lifelong relationship with a counselor who you can trust, call on for assistance, and rely on if something should happen to you or your family, then you should keep reading to learn about the core values our firm was built on.

Many estate planning attorneys take a “one-size fits all” approach with their clients; they do this so that they can work with as many people as possible in a short period of time. The problem is that the client has an impersonal experience; but worse than that, this way of planning can lead to unintended results in the long run for the family.

When lawyers do not take the time to listen and consider a family’s personal circumstances, the result is that your documents do not end up reflecting what your family really wants to happen. And usually there is no review or updating, so the plan quickly becomes outdated and does not work when your family needs it most.

Most families pay this price when it’s far too late in the game.

So even though you may pay less up front to get a standard set of documents, most people don’t prefer to play dice with their legacy and assets. More importantly, you leave your family at risk of having to deal with an expensive, unnecessary court process during a time of tremendous grief.

Our firm is right for you if you want to know that your plan will actually work when you and your loved ones need it the most. If all you want is a set of legal documents, there are plenty of online resources you can use to create them. Or you can go to a traditional estate planning lawyer.

Here are some of our core values and how they will matter to your experience.

We let our clients choose their own fees.

We believe in transparency, especially when it comes to your costs. How much your estate plan will cost depends on what kind of planning is important to you. We offer three levels of planning to suit your varying needs. There are no hidden fees, no surprise bills in the mail, and everything is agreed-upon in advance so you know exactly what you are getting and exactly what you are paying. At our initial meeting, you will choose the level of planning and fee that works best for your family.

Our fees, beginning at $1500, range and depend on the level of planning and asset protection you build into your trust, whether we are funding your trust or if you are, and whether you choose to protect your trust with lifetime updates.

It’s our opinion that if you are looking for less expensive planning, you may as well read up and do it yourself because you’ll get the same quality of planning online as you will with any lawyer charging fees that are less. Our plans are focused on ensuring your family has somewhere to turn to if and when something happens to you, that your plan will work and you have real security, not the false security that comes with a D-I-Y set of estate planning documents.

We want to be your personal family lawyers for life.

We take great pride in building lasting relationships with not just our clients – but with their families as well. We advise successive generations including the children and grandchildren of our clients.

If all you want are documents, we’re not the firm for you. That’s because documents go stale very fast. Your assets will change. You will have more kids or grandkids. If nothing else, the law will change. Inevitably, something will happen that will affect your plan. This is guaranteed.

Before you engage an estate planning lawyer to help you plan for the well‐being of your money, your family, and your life, these are the points you need to consider. You need to ensure that the estate plan you put in place will really work, and stays relevant, when your family needs it.

Many attorneys give their clients a one-time set of documents and never follow up with them again. When you call that attorney later on to update your documents, they pull a bait and switch and charge you an exorbitant hourly fee for a very minor change.

We believe this is not an effective way to build a lasting relationship. Our plans offer no-fee consultations with our clients and we make it a point to regularly meet with them to go over any changes.

Estate planning only works if your trust is properly funded, if assets are properly titled, and if your documents are regularly reviewed, updated, and corrected. This comes from a lifelong relationship with an attorney you trust and where you will never have to worry about paying to speak to them.

Finally, we believe that planning is much more than just the transfer of your financial wealth. We encourage our clients to focus just as much on passing down their legacy to their loved ones, including their intellectual, spiritual and human assets – who they are and what’s important to them – including their stories, values, wisdom, and character.

Our clients are not dependent on us, we are dependent on them.

Our firm operates on word-of-mouth referrals. If a client is happy and recommends us to their friends and family, we benefit from this. So, for us, it’s about providing unparalleled service to our clients and their families.

Which means that our clients are the most important people in our practice, not us. Receiving telephone calls from our clients is never an interruption of our work; it is the purpose of our work. We value each and every one of our relationships and getting to know our clients, their children, and even their grandchildren is a privilege.

We are lucky to have received the confidence and trust of so many of you, and we strive each day to make our practice even better. Courtesy and respect is something we don’t just talk about; it’s what we practice each and every day.
